Abstract

This research aims to describe Islamic Studies. The peak of the development of Islamic Studies in Indonesia occurred in the 1980s to the end of the 1990s, which was marked by the rise of Islamic studies led by a number of academics and the emergence of several Indonesian Muslim intellectuals, Western alumni who put forward many ideas for reforming Islamic thought. The research method used in this research is the library research method. The results of the research in this study are that critically understanding Islam is kaffah by means of interconnections in understanding the components between 'Ulum al-Diin (Religious Knowledge), al-Fikr al-Islamiy (Islamic Thought), Dirasat Islamiyyah (Islamic Studies), which have their own characteristics, so they can go hand in hand.
