Abstract

Leadership plays an important role in improving organizational performance, including administrative performance within student organizations. Effective leadership is not only related to the ability to direct members but also to creating coordination, motivation, and decision-making processes that support the achievement of organizational goals. This study aims to analyze the role of leadership in improving the administrative performance of the Student Council Organization (Organisasi Siswa Intra Sekolah/OSIS). This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach conducted at MA Nurut Taqwa. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation involving the chairperson, vice chairperson, secretary, treasurer, OSIS members, and the organization advisor as research informants. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive analysis model, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that leadership contributes significantly to improving administrative performance through the formulation of organizational vision, strengthening administrative coordination, increasing member motivation, and implementing participatory decision-making. However, several obstacles were also identified, including limited administrative experience, differences in members’ discipline, communication barriers, and time constraints. Therefore, effective leadership is essential for creating an organized, efficient, and sustainable administrative system within student organizations.
